The Player Pathway Initiative is a needs-based, scholarship and education-focused youth soccer program created to give talented young players access to opportunities that may otherwise be financially out of reach. Through high-level soccer training, competition, education, mentorship, and personal development, the program prepares young athletes for success on the field, in school, and in their communities.
The transition from the Carolina Core FC Academy to the Player Pathway Initiative reflects a more sustainable and holistic approach to youth development. As the program grows from three teams to as many as 12, Carolina Core FC is placing a greater emphasis on education and life skills while directing resources toward the players and families who need them most.
A major part of this approach is Carolina Core FC’s partnership with The Goal 13 Foundation, which provides year-round education and personal development programming. Topics include financial literacy, nutrition, mental health and wellness, executive functioning, academic accountability, leadership, character development, mentorship, and college and career readiness.
The expansion will include MLS NEXT and GA Girls teams, announced Aug. 8, 2026, followed by Homegrown and Aspire teams on Aug. 22, 2026.
